Lemon Juice, Cayenne Pepper, and Agave', Molasses, or Honey....
opt: add a little water to thin it out
Cough Syrup:
2 tablespoons of Lemon Juice*
1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper (or to taste)
1-2 drops of sweetener
1/2 oz. of water
Mix well, and sip.
One or two sips stops coughing.
Last year, I carried a little bottle of this syrup when my throat got extremely irritated because of the smoke from a house fire in my neighborhood. It worked well. I've also used it when my throat tickled as in starting to catch a cold. Combined with hot/cold showers, I have not gotten as sick as I used to get. Usually, just a day or two and the cold is gone; it used to take weeks.
Hot Lemonade:
1/2 cup of Lemonade (cold from refrigerator is ok)
2 tablespoons of Lemon Juice
1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper (or to taste)
Finish filling mug with boiling hot water
Mix well, cool to taste, and ENJOY!
Great on a cold, damp day; and, GREAT when you feel chills coming on!
*Note: I use concentrated lemon juice so that I can always have it on hand. However, some may prefer real lemons.
Variations:
1. When my throat is sore or my phlegm has turned white or yellowish (instead of clear), I add a few drops of Golden Seal Extract to my lemonade. Golden Seal is a natural antibiotic.
2. When I have chills/fever I make a half-and-half mixture of Lemonade and Tension Tamer tea (separately brewed). It works WONDERS! I call it my Cold Bomb.
